Barcelona have said they will not be offering star man Lionel Messi another new deal and that he will have to wait for his next pay rise, though teammate Gerard Pique is close to agreeing one.
Mundo Deportivo reported a radio interview with the Camp Nou club's financial vice president, Javier Faus, where he insisted that Messi should be happy with the contract he signed as recently as February of this year to make him the highest paid player at Barcelona.
Faus was asked if Messi would be offered another pay rise, possibly in light of the huge new contract signed by Cristiano Ronaldo at Real Madrid earlier this year, but he ruled it out.

"I don't know why we should do so again - we don't need to offer an improved contract every six months," was his reply.
Messi's renewal earlier this year saw him extend his contract until June 2018 and become one of the world's best paid players and Faus insisted there was "zero possibility" of him being sold.
The diminutive Argentine is currently being forced to watch Barcelona from the sidelines as he recovers from a hamstring injury, which is set to keep him out for nearly two months in total.
