SPORTS: Messi: Barcelona chief knows nothing about football

Lionel Messi has taken a swipe at Barcelona vice-president Javier Faus, following claims from the Camp Nou chief that the Argentine asked for a new contract, reports Sky Sports.
The 26-year-old accused Faus of "knowing nothing about football", and rejected suggestions he is seeking a new deal, just 10-months after penning a bumper five-year extension.

Recent reports in Spain have intimated that Neymar is now the highest paid player at Barcelona, following his blockbuster arrival from Santos during the summer.

It prompted speculation that Messi was unhappy that he'd been overtaken as Barca's biggest earner, and felt that he deserved another new contract.
However, the four-time FIFA Ballon d'Or winner has dismissed such rumours, and also slammed the outspoken Faus, insisting that he is simply focusing on his recovery from injury.
"Mr. Faus knows nothing about football and wants to run Barcelona like a business, which it's not," Messi told Catalan radio station Rac1.
"Barcelona is the best club in the world and it should be run by the best directors in the world.
"Neither I nor any of my representatives have asked for an improved contract. The truth is that I'm focused on my recovery and not thinking about anything else."
Messi is currently recovering from a hamstring injury, and is expected to return to action for Tata Martino's side in the New Year.
He remains under contract with Barcelona until 2018.
