Arsenal were held to a 0-0 against title contenders and London rivals, Chelsea, at the Emirates Stadium.
The result means that neither Arsenal or Chelsea will be top of Premier League table at Christmas, with Liverpool keeping their place in first spot on goal difference.

Chelsea left-back and former Arsenal player, Ashley Cole, was sidelined by Jose Mourinho after the England left-back had attended the Arsenal Christmas party.

Going into the match, fans and pundits expected a first class performance from both sides who are both tipped to win the Premier League title, however we saw little of this throughout the game.

The only real chance came in the first half after Chelsea midfielder, Frank Lampard, hit the woodwork after a fantastic pass from Eden Hazard.
Chelsea were lucky to not have gone down to 10 men after John Obi Mikel's heavy challenge on Arsenal midfielder, Mikel Arteta, was overlooked by referee Mike Dean and play continued.

There were then shouts for a penalty from the Arsenal fans after Theo Walcott was brought down by Brazilian winger, Willian, inside the penalty box however Mike Dean didn't point to the spot.
Arsenal came close to scoring in the second half after two golden chances from Olivier Giroud were wasted by the French striker.

The second half was as scrappy as the first as Arteta was victim to another brutal tackle but this time from Chelsea midfielder, Ramires, who was shown a yellow card.

There was then a confrontation between Arsenal midfielder, Mesut Özil, and Chelsea right-back, Branislav Ivanović, after it appeared that Ivanović had kicked Özil in the face.
Chelsea face Swansea at home on Boxing Day whilst Arsenal travel to struggling London rivals West Ham.
