Manchester City 1-2 Tottenham: Christian Eriksen nets late winner at the Etihad - 5 things we learned

Christian Eriksen celebrates scoring Tottenham's second goal with Harry Kane

Christian Eriksen bagged a late winner to boost Tottenham's title hopes and dent Manchester City's.
Eriksen struck with just eight minutes remaining to move Spurs to second and within just two points of leaders Leicester.

Kelechi Iheanacho thought he had earned City a point when he equalised within eight minutes of coming on.
Iheanacho's fine strike cancelled out Spurs' controversial opener when Harry Kane netted his 19th goal of the season from the penalty spot.
Referee Mark Clattenburg harshly blew for handball when Danny Rose's cross hit Raheem Sterling on his back as the Manchester City forward turned to block it.

1) Vincent Kompany needs time

The City skipper looked understandably rusty on his first start since Boxing Day after his latest return from his calf trouble.
He had a couple of poor touches and played Christian Eriksen on for Spurs' late winner.

2) Roy Hodgson should take a look at Danny Rose

Hodgson must have been impressed by Rose's attacking display from left-back and his cross led to Tottenham's controversial penalty.
Rose isn't on Hodgson's radar, but deserves to be considered if he maintains this form.

3) Yaya Toure looks off the pace

Toure's movement was laboured in the No 10 role for City and he was lucky to escape bookings twice for catching Mousa Dembele and Christian Wimmer.
